I was introduced by Ikuo Taniguchi, a Uji tea master, to participate in the Gion Festival Yamaboko procession on July 17 as a tea brewer at the Ninai Chaya (荷茶屋) on Taishiyama. As someone who was born and raised in Kyoto, I was very happy to be able to walk along the big street during the Gion Festival procession. I was also honored to be able to serve tea to Mr. Kojiro Yoshida of Kita Kannonzan on the way.
