Compare different teas to find the one you like best. Or experience the process of making tea and learn to make it at home. Or, you can actually go into a tea plantation and try tearing tea leaves. By coming into contact with various kinds of tea, your enjoyment of tea will expand. That is the kind of experience we offer.

Various Experiences at Samurai Chajin

Experience Course 1: Samurai Tea Master Course (2 hours)

Japanese tea show, hojicha (roasted green tea) making experience,Chakabuki(tea guessing game)

Experience Course 2: Matcha Green Tea Experience (2 hours)

Basic knowledge of matcha, hands-on experience of grinding stone mortar, how to make matcha, matcha art experience

Experience Course 3: Making Kyo-bancha-style tea (2 hours)

A year-round tea making experience. You will pick your own tea, make it, and take it home.

Experience course 4: Hand-momocha tea experience (on designated days only)

Hand rubbing to make sencha tea. The hand-moiled tea experience is only available on designated days.

Experience course 5: Making tea tree dolls (3-4 hours)

Experience time: 2 hours Morning session (10:30-12:30) Afternoon session (13:30-15:30)

Payment of Fees

Payment will be made on site. Payment can be made in cash or by QR payment (PayPay, auPAY, d-payment) .PayPal is available.

By public transportation

5-minute walk from Neda bus stop by Kyoto Keihan Bus. By bus, take the Kyoto Keihan Bus bound for Midori-enzaka (No. 62) from Kintetsu Shin Tanabe Station or the Kyoto Keihan Bus bound for Korenchu-mae (No. 180) from Keihan Uji Station, and it takes about 30 minutes. Please note, however, that there is only one bus every hour. The bus fare is 440 yen one way (as of December 2022).
