Samurai Chajin Tea Experience Course

A unique and unforgettable experience.

Compare different teas to find the one you like best. Or experience the process of making tea and learn to make it at home. Or, you can actually go into a tea plantation and try tearing tea leaves. By coming into contact with various kinds of tea, your enjoyment of tea will expand. That is the kind of experience we offer.

Various Experiences at Samurai Chajin

Experience Course 1: Matcha Experience (2 hours)

What you can do in this course
 Learn about matcha (what makes it different from other teas)
 You will learn how to make a beautiful bowl of matcha.
 By drinking several matcha teas, you can learn the difference in taste of matcha.

The following contents are included
Basic knowledge about Matcha, hands-on Matcha grinding, Matcha making technique, Matcha art, Chabukuri(tea guessing game) with Matcha, Q&A, Free time. 

Experience Course 2: Uji Tea Experience(2 hours)

What you can do in this course
 You will be able to understand the differences between teas (differences in appearance, taste, and production methods of sencha, gyokuro, matcha, hojicha, and other teas).
 You will be able to know what kind of tea you like (since you drink a lot of tea). So you can enjoy shopping at Japanese tea stores.
 You can enjoy experiencing tea making such as Chakabuki (tea drinking guessing game) and Hojicha (roasted green tea) making.

The following contents are included.
Basic knowledge of Uji tea, drinking various types of Uji tea (Japanese tea show), hojicha making, Chakabuki(tea guessing game), Q&A, free time

The location will be at the Samurai Chajin's house or the Samurai Chajin's tea farm, either of your choice, which you often see on YouTube.

Advantages at the house (Seika town)
 Air-conditioned, cool in summer and warm in winter
Disadvantages at the house
 No experience of entering the tea fields (tea trees are planted at the house, so you can touch them).

Please arrive at Kintetsu Shin-Hosono(B21) station(30 minutes from Kyoto(B01) Station by Kintetsu Railway) 
15 minutes prior to the start of your experience.
We will come to pick you up.

*The pick-up station is different from that of the Samurai Chajin’s tea farm.

Please come to Seika Town Hall.

Advantages at the farm (Ujitawara town)

 You can enter the tea field.
Disadvantages at the farm
 Hot in summer and cold in winter because it is mostly outdoors (rain can be sheltered).

40 minutes prior to the start of your experience.

Payment of Fees

Payment will be made on site. Payment can be made in cash or by QR payment (PayPay, auPAY, d-payment) .PayPal is available.
