On Saturday, 10/14/2023, we held an Uji tea event at Kyoto Prefectural Tea Industry Hall (next to Takumi no Yakata).
We did not have a specific title for this event, but we tried several new things based on green tea making, hojicha making, matcha cha-kabuki(matcha guessing game), and Samurai Chajin tea sales.
This time, I prepared to be able to explain in English and Chinese, being aware of the need to respond well to customers from overseas. However, I need to study Chinese more.
All staff (my children) are encouraged to challenge themselves to communicate well in English.
The new idea was to “recreate the scenery of old Uji”. The owner brews a pot of tea and slowly chats with the guests. This form of communication through tea is rarely seen today, but we will continue to do this kind of thing. The result was a great success.
This time we had many visitors from overseas, which reaffirmed the importance of disseminating information about tea.
We also held a flea market of tea utensils outside for the first time. This was also enjoyed by many people, and we will continue to do so in the future. For those of you who could not make it this time, we hope to see you next month!
